Happy Friday!

Hello wonderful people! Congrats on making it to the weekend! Whether you’ve had a stressful week at work, been studying at school, or even taking ‘er easy, I hope this weekend brings you refreshment, relaxation and opportunities to enjoy a fuller life.

Keep in mind that the biggest influencer on your own thoughts and actions is YOU. Other people, concepts and ideas can obviously have a great impact on you, and sway your decisions, but you are ultimately the one who allows these thoughts to form, the actions to evolve and your own impact to occur. Your mind can only hold one thought at a time. Why not make it a positive one?

Don’t put off doing new and exciting things this weekend. When else are you ever going to learn a skill, go to a show, or just get out and do something, anything, that you’ve secretly (or explicitly) been wanting or intending to do for a while? Weekends are the perfect time to do something for the first time. You have less excuses, and the thrill of knowing its Friday, or Saturday, for goodness sake, and what’s the point of a weekend if you don’t really get to LIVE during it?

I’ll end this week with one of my all-time favourite youtube videos, pranks, and scenes from Ellen DeGeneres’ show.
Have a wonderful weekend; I hope you get to listen to a favourite song, catch a glimpse of a blue sky, get caught up in the royal wedding, and be surrounded by people you love.
Happy Friday!

Lovely Links

I have found some pretty cool gems this week on the interwebs, and have shared most of these links with a lot of my friends already. Feel free to leave a comment with your favourite internet find this week! Here are a few that I’ve been frequenting lately:
  • These statistics were just too interesting to not post! Do everyday twitter users have longer relationships? And does your diet have anything to do with oral sex frequency? Too cool!

  • These absolutely gorgeous photos of ballerinas in striking urban settings. I showed this to my brother’s ballerina girlfriend and she absolutely loved them.
  • Thinking about doing a big (or even small!) travel around the world, or a new place, in the near future? Check out these 6 Tips To Travel by an experienced world traveller.
  • I laughed out loud at this video! If you wished you were at Coachella last weekend, and have a similar sense of humour to me (as well as most people on the internet), check out Funny or Die’s hilarious movie on Jeff Goldblum at Coachella.
  • This post really opens your eyes to the reality of how others really see you, and how to accept this information without obsession.
  • My amazing friend back in Australia made this lovely video on youtube this week. Damien Rice + painting = chill. Check it out.

Happy Friday!

Ladies and gentlemen, I am now officially on summer vacation! All my exams are finished, I don’t have to read, write, study or memorize anything I don’t want to, and I can SLEEP as well!

I apologize for those of you who may be still in school, or have tons of work to deal with. But for this week’s Happy Friday, I would like to propose a toast to the upcoming (Northern Hemisphere) summer. For those of us who are done school, or for those of us still keeping going to know that summer is ever so close!

Weekly Favourites 21

1. Having brunch with friends

2. The Vancouver Canucks currently at a 3-0 standing against the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the playoffs

3. Getting two exams finally out of the way! Having lots of time to study is obviously great, but after a while I just want to get them over and done with

4. The live streaming of Coachella on youtube this weekend! This consumed pretty much my entire weekend, and I even stayed up crazy late to watch the entire Arcade Fire set, which gave me only four hours of sleep that night. So worth it!

5. Impromptu lunch dates

6. Starting to pack up my room to move out!

Good Saturday everyone! While I do hope your weekends are productive, give yourself a break to enjoy some of the gems the Internet presents to us every once in a while (okay, more like all the time). Here are some of the things that have opened my eyes and/or made me smile recently:

  • When A Photograph Isn’t Just A Photograph is amazing! Makes me smile every time.
  • Possibly the greatest couples photo shoot of all time. Makes me want to head down to the South for some slow living, sunshine and soda pop.
  • I always have to google search recipes, but I definitely want to start using They Draw & Cook instead for my searches! Great drawings, and great food! What more could you want?

  • These polaroid shots from Wildfox Summer Lookbook have me dying for summer! It makes me remember swimming in pools with my t-shirt on, bulky plastic phones with curly cords, and uncomfortable lawn chairs that leave marks on your legs.
  • Centenarians’ outlooks and perspectives on their lives is a great read..I always find that advice you are given by someone is what they wish they could tell a younger version of themselves. It really reveals a lot about them.

Happy Friday!

We made it to the end of the week! I’ve got two exams ahead of me today, but once they’re over I’m planning on a relaxing evening before I re-start the studying engines. Sigh.

Here are a few things that make me smile and will hopefully do the same to you.

Saudade – how beautiful :)

I am sadly obsessed with this movie. I play it while I get ready in the morning. You really have to watch it all to the end, such a hilarious, and strangely committed, prank! “He is above the law!”

And I will leave with this: press play and dance your face off when it gets to 1:03.

Make sure to run rather than walk down the street at least once, talk to a friend you haven’t seen in a long time, eat dessert, read the news and learn something new this weekend! Have a most enjoyable day and weekend.
